In 2014, a bridge was built
Bridge Eight Press is a literary publisher in Jacksonville, Florida that believes a good book deserves to be held by its reader.
The press started as Bridge Eight Literary Magazine, an extension of the small literary community Left on Mallory, which published fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual art in a bi-annual print magazine. After seven print issues, Bridge Eight began publishing lit online, ensuring its eighth issue would live on infinitely.
In October 2018, the magazine became Bridge Eight Press and published its first full-length title 15 Views of Jacksonville. Five months later, it published its first novel, Alligator Zoo-Park Magic by C.H. Hooks.
In 2019, the press took shape
Since July of 2019, Bridge Eight Press has been owned and operated by Caleb Michael Sarvis, with the occasional editorial help from his friends in the literary community. It has since grown to include features of film, television, sports, and other word-worthy endeavors.
Bridge Eight Press has now published nine full-length fiction titles from new and established writers alike, and will continue to publish real, hand-held books for the foreseeable future.
We welcome any and all writers to submit when we’re open. Visit our submissions page to learn more.
In 2025, the vision changed
As of August 2025, Bridge Eight Press no longer publishes new work on its website. Instead, we are focusing on resources on full-length titles with the hopes of publishing two titles a year beginning in 2027.
All previous stories, poems, essays, and other special projects can be found by visiting the archive, where “Issue 8” will live on infinitely.
In addition to publishing full-length titles, Bridge Eight Press is also pursuing other efforts to emphasize the tangibility of literature and revisit what it means to connect with a book.
