The story behind
the card
This little card has quite the story, and it begins with a question: when someone writes you a letter by hand, what do you feel?
For me, it’s connection. I imagine the person finding the paper, turning on a light, and putting their thoughts down in ink, starting with a, “Dear, Jared.”
When I write letters, I feel that I’m sharing a rare moment of connection with the intended receiver. While I fold and push it gently into the envelope, sealing it with just a bit of wax, I’m thinking about the secrecy and how no one else will be allowed in.
This issue intends to spark one of these rare moments of connection -between you and the work, you and yourself, and you and the people you love. As you read the work inside, it’s our hope that it will move you to respond.
The postcard that you find within this issue (with the postage already paid) is a vehicle for you to use to share your moment with someone you care about, or to simply connect.
Say something sweet, something sentimental, or just say hi. The beauty of a postcard is that it’s a tangible representation of your intended desire to connect. Its presence will already say so much.
